AMAA: Concerned with the Future of Istanbul’s Camp Armen
Last week, Rev. Kirkor Ağabaloğlu, the pastor of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Gedik Pasa in Istanbul, was in Armenia, along with a delegation comprised of members of the committee for the construction and rehabilitation of Istanbul’s Camp Armen, including engineer Nazareth Binatli, architects Aleen Pontioglu and Zhan Gavrilov, Hrant Dink Foundation representative Delal Dink, and benefactors Harout and Dalar Khorozoglus.
The group came to Yerevan to get acquainted with creative centers for children and youth, including the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies and the Armenian Missionary Association of America’s (AMAA) Nor Nork District’s SHOGH Day Care Center, where they spoke with teachers, social workers, and the psychologist of the center. The goal of the visit was to implement similar features at Camp Armen, where children will gather during their summer vacations and develop their creative thinking and artistic abilities.
During a visit to the Ministry of the Diaspora, Minister Hranush Hakobyan expressed her gratitude to the Armenians of Istanbul, and to the visiting group in particular, for staying true to their national identity and setting an example of how to live as an Armenian.
