Gathering in NJ for Artsakh Fund’s Arajamugh Village Expansion Project
PARAMUS, N.J.—More than 50 friends and community members gathered at the home of Alex and Talar Sarafian in Paramus on June 5 in support the Arajamugh Village Expansion Project, a collaboration between the Tufenkian Foundation and the Artsakh Fund of the Eastern United States for the development and expansion of Arajamugh village in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabagh Republic/NKR). The event’s guest of honor was Lernik Hovhannisyan, a deputy in the Artsakh Parliament and member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) parliamentary faction.
The afternoon program educated those in attendance on Artsakh’s current situation and resettlement needs in light of the recent “Four-Day War.” During the event, $15,000 was raised for the current phase of the project. A total of over $50,000 has been raised for the project in a region-wide series of events.
The goal of the project is to expand the Arajamugh village to include 50 homes, complete with a kindergarten and a cultural center to serve as a model village.
